How Royal Vopak Reduced Impact on the Environment Case Study Client Profile The Challenge Replacement of Disparate Management Systems. Configurable Waste Management System. The Solution Royal Vopak is the world's leading independent tank storage provider for the oil and chemical industry. They operate 72 terminals in 26 countries with a combined storage capacity of 32.5 million cubic meters (cbm), with another 5.8 million cbm under development, to be added during the period 2015-2019. Vopak's mission is to make a sustainable contribution to the creation of efficient logistics processes for their customers by being the leading provider of independent tank terminal storage infrastructure at locations that are critical to their customers in all regions of the world. Vopak's dozens of terminals in countries around the world were using a number of systems to manage waste, such as on paper, sticky notes and spreadsheets. This system offered no good way to track profiles, approvals, costs or compliance with their permits. The process caused budget overages due to lack of accountability. The company needed an electronic data collection and reporting system to eliminate the confusion around inbound/ outbound waste tracking and to integrate the data in a meaningful way. Cority's Waste Management software is deployed as a SaaS (Software as a Service) solution, and is used by multiple Vopak employees to effectively manage on-site waste. Its pre-configured workflows and reports provided for a quick solution delivery. "The solution has produced additional benefits that we weren't expecting" according to Laurance Goodman, Vopak's Environmental Specialist. "We have seen a reduction in human error, improved the security of our data, recognized savings in expenses, fees & fines, eliminated the "busy work" involved in the process, and have lessened our impact on the environment. The Anytime, Anywhere, Any Device flexibility has also helped us save time managing the data. We've even been given kudos from regulators."
